Maddie read English at
St Andrews University and now works for a literary, film and television
agency in London. “I still like to apply the St Andrews motto
'work hard play hard' to my life in London. After a hard day at work
I want to completely relax yet still go out and meet more people to
have a good time, so Yana and I came up with the idea of organising
special occasions to get people together and make the most out of
London life.”
Yana
is currently working on her doctoral thesis in cognitive psychology but
has always thrived on keeping busy with new and exciting projects.
“I was helping Maddie run events over the summer and realised
that we had a great rapport. Maddie is creative and had this amazing
vision, while I am more practical and enjoy planning our occasions to
ensure that they run smoothly and that every detail is
special.”
Why MY? During a brainstorming session one Sunday afternoon, MYOccasions was created, its name deriving from our initials. Yana says: “I'll never forget the moment I realised that M+Y = MY. Maddie was so enthusiastic - she was convinced it was meant to be.” The harder part was choosing what came after the MY - we wanted something more special than 'Events', and 'Occasions' really does describe what we're all about.
